Checking around my local stores, online and on eBay, I found a number of low cost converters, which all appeared to physically resemble each other very closely, but varied significantly in price…

So I decided to try a low cost unit, similar to this one…

USB to Serial Adapter.

Included with this cable, was a small CD which contained the drivers required to make this adapter work. I quickly learned that this CD was Non-Functional. A quick online search revealed that in fact a lot of these CDs (if not all of them) are non-functional. No wonder the cable itself was so cheap…

My online search revealed that the cable itself used a CH340 family USB IC manufactured by “WinChipHead“ in China.

To aid those of you who have also purchaced this same adapter cable, and received a deffective Driver CD, I’m posting here some ZIP files containing the drivers I found online for this adapter cable. These llinks will let you download the most recent drivers available for this cable.

Again this year, I plan to participate in this tour (my fifth time), which amounts to riding my bicycle more than 150 miles in two days, on the week-end of May 2nd, and 3rd, 2009.

All the money that I raise by participating in this event goes to the North Texas Chapter – National Multiple Sclerosis Society, to help victims of MS, and to provide the funding required for a large number of important health related programs.

I built this site, using WordPress.. it’s quick, easy, extremely versatile, and creates a great look… So this week, while doing work on an other one of my WordPress based websites, I ran across the “WordCamp Dallas, 2009“ website…

I love this WordPress stuff, and I always want to know more. This is a great opportunity to do so, and it’s local to me… so here I am, I registered, and I will be attending… Cool!

It will be held in Frisco, Texas on March 29th & 30th, 2009.

I’m by no means a big time code writer, and I don’t think that this event will be too technical, but hopefully, I’ll get something good from it…

I’m really looking forward to participatring in this, and hearing from others with a similar interest in WordPress.
